Welcome to the Space Program
Welcome to my Podcast!
Query ... What would it feel like… to have more space in your life?
More space in your day…
more space in your body…
more space in your mind…
Not more time.
Not more money.
…but more space within what you already have.
Welcome to The Space Program.
I’m Marla Love.
I’m a movement teacher, and my background is actually in dance. I spent many years training and performing, and that world shaped how I see the body—and life—in a very specific way.
Because in dance, the goal is quite simple:
to make something very difficult… feel effortless.
Key Reframe (this is new + important)
And that’s something I think we often misunderstand.
Effortless doesn’t mean doing nothing.
It means doing just the right amount…
and then allowing space.
The Dinner Party Analogy (this is gold — keep it)
I often think about this like hosting a dinner party.
You prepare the food.
You set the space.
You invite the right people.
But you don’t script the conversations.
You don’t fill every moment with activities.
You leave room… for something to happen.
And that space—
that’s where the magic is.
That’s where connection happens.
That’s where surprise lives.
That’s where joy shows up.
Core Insight (tie it to life)
And I started to notice…
we don’t leave that kind of space in our lives anymore.
We overplan.
We overschedule.
We overfill.
Often without realizing it.
Because underneath it, there’s a kind of pressure—
a feeling that we don’t have enough time…
or enough money…
or enough energy…
And so we try to control everything.
But in doing that…
we squeeze out the very thing we’re looking for.
Personal Reflection (tightened)
I used to think about summers as a kid…
how long they felt…
how much space there was in a day…
And it wasn’t because there was more time.
It was because there was less pressure.
We were told to go outside, find our friends…
and just see what happened.
There was room for the unknown.
And that’s something I think many of us quietly miss.
Your Work + Modalities (integrated cleanly)
Over the years, through my work and studies, I started to see this same principle everywhere.
In Pilates, we move—but we maintain space in the body.
We don’t compress to create strength.
In breathwork, especially Buteyko, we soften the breath…
and allow a small pause at the end of the exhale.
That space is what helps regulate the nervous system.
In ELDOA, we create space in the joints…
we decompress the spine…
we actively move away from the compressive forces of gravity.
And even outside the body…
When we learn to live beneath our means, we create space in our finances.
When we clear our home, we create space in our environment.
When we simplify our schedule, we create space in our time.
The Naming Moment
And at some point, I started to recognize this pattern.
Everything I was teaching…
everything I was practicing…
came back to this idea of space.
So, a little playfully…
I started calling it The Space Program.
Clarify the Philosophy
Not as something rigid.
Not as a system you have to follow perfectly.
But as a way of approaching life.
Doing what needs to be done…
with care and intention…
…and then leaving just enough room
for something unexpected to unfold.
What This Podcast Is
So this podcast is an exploration of that.
Through solo episodes, and conversations with other practitioners,
we’ll look at how we can create more space—
in the body,
in the breath,
in the mind,
and in the way we live.
Not by doing less for the sake of it…
but by refining what we do…
so there’s room for something more meaningful to emerge.
What’s Coming Next
In the next few episodes, I’ll explore this idea of space in different areas of life—
starting with the mind…
the breath…
the body…
and expanding outward from there.
Closing (slightly elevated)
So I’ll leave you with this:
What would it feel like…
to do just a little less…
but with more awareness…
…and create just enough space
for something unexpected to enter your day?
